1/8 mile time and 1/4 mile time in the same run. To get the best 1/8 mile time, you should NOT shift into 4th gear. The shift will cost you more than revving out 3rd gear hurts. To get the best 1/4 mile time, you want to shift into 4th before the end of the 1/8 mile, this hurts your 1/8 mile time by .1-.2 and 2ish MPH, but helps the quarter by about the same (my experience with 50 + 1/8 mile passes, and 20+ 1/4 mile passes).
